Karnataka: Vijayendra’s appointment may not pose a Lingayat challenge for Cong

The appointment of BY Vijayendra as the state BJP chief in Karnataka has led to divided opinions among political analysts and party functionaries. Some believe that the move is an attempt by the BJP to regain the support of the Lingayat community, which they lost in the previous assembly polls. However, others argue that this appointment alone will not significantly impact the Congress' support base among the Lingayats. There is also discontent among the Panchamasalis, a sub-caste of Lingayats, due to their alleged neglect by the BJP.
