AJKPC hits out at poll panel over delay in local body elections in Jammu and Kashmir
Monday, 20 November 2023
The All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) has accused the state election commission of delaying local body polls and functioning as an extension of the government. The AJKPC opposes transferring budget planning for the next financial year from panchayats and block development councils (BDCs) to district development councils (DDCs) as the term of existing BDCs and panchayats will end in January 2024. The AJKPC condemns this move, stating that it would centralize power instead of decentralizing it.
