Punjab prisons department struggles to contain the use of mobile phones by inmates, who connect outside world by dialling SOS numbers. Report reveals that the current SOP for blocking communication signals does not include details for blocking advanced signals like 5G. The issue has been taken up with the department of telecommunications to update the SOP. Punjab and Haryana high court is hearing a case related to misuse of mobile phones by prisoners.
