Friday, 1 December 2023 Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi reserving 11 bills for the President's consideration, allegedly in defiance of the cautionary notes sounded by the Supreme Court, evoked a strong reaction from a CJI-led bench on Friday which asked, "Can the governor withhold assent to bills for years to kill the legislation?" Appearing for the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, senior advocate A M Singhvi and P Wilson informed the bench of CJI D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.

Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
