IndiaTimes Wednesday, 6 December 2023
The Army has finalized a new promotion policy, emphasizing meritocracy and physical fitness. The policy aims to reduce disparity among the arms and services within the force. It will come into effect from January 1 and will apply to select ranks of Colonel, Brigadier, Major General, and Lt-General. The new policy aligns leadership requirements with present and emerging operational challenges. It addresses cadre aspirations, strengthens meritocracy, and ensures equitable satisfaction in promotion boards.
