‘This isn’t Emergency,’ Gujarat high court to I-T search party

The Gujarat high court criticized the income tax department for raiding a lawyer's office and seizing documents. The court issued show-cause notices to eight I-T officials for their 'atrocious use of power'. The judges found the behavior highly inappropriate and painful, stating that no professional person will be safe in the country. They demanded an explanation from the officers or they would face consequences. The court also insisted on the return of the documents and a public apology.
