Over 500 pedestrians die on Delhi roads every year

The number of fatalities and injuries increased in 2022, with 629 pedestrians killed and 1,777 injured. Till date in 2023, there has been a small decrease in both injuries and fatalities. The Delhi Crash Report 2022 identified 117 crash-prone zones, including Ring Road, GT Karnal Road, and Outer Ring Road. Head injuries were the leading cause of death and major injuries for two-wheeler users. The report also highlights the importance of zebra crossings and recommends design interventions at crash-prone locations.
