Tension grips Punganur after police deny permission to BCY party's Rythu Bheri programme at Sadum

Tension gripped the Punganur assembly constituency where followers of state minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and activists of the Bharata Chaitanya Yuvajana party (BCY) almost clashed with each other even as high drama prevailed at the Somala police station around midnight on Thursday. BCY activists started distributing publicity material related to the Rythu Bheri programme. Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy's followers objected to the content, leading to a heated altercation. BCY party activists, including women, were taken to the police station.
