Maharashtra orders probe in purchase of Chinese goods at inflated cost

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 19 December 2023
The Maharashtra minister for skill and vocational training, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, has set up a committee to inquire into the procurement of interactive LCD panels from China for state-run training institutes. The department of vocational education and training (DVET) has demanded an explanation from the vendor regarding the use of panels made in China instead of following the mandated certification and purchasing from Indian manufacturers. The DVET paid a significantly higher price for each panel compared to the average rate. Minister Lodha has also announced the disbanding of the current procurement committee and the formation of a new panel.
