The directorate of public health in Chennai has advised high-risk patients, including immune-compromised patients, elderly with comorbid conditions, and pregnant women, to wear masks in public spaces and maintain social distance. A new subvariant of Omicron has led to an increase in Covid-19 cases in Indonesia, Thailand, and Kerala. Doctors have been asked to test patients with flu symptoms for Covid-19. The state government has advised infected individuals to isolate themselves. In flood-affected areas, people have been advised to drink boiled water, eat freshly cooked food, and prevent water stagnation to avoid mosquito breeding.
