Delhi high court asks Centre to consider representation for linking property with Aadhaar

IndiaTimes Thursday, 21 December 2023
The Delhi High Court has asked the Centre to consider a plea seeking the linking of property documents with Aadhaar numbers to curb corruption and 'benami' transactions. The court stated that these are policy decisions and it cannot instruct the government to implement them. The plea, filed by lawyer Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, emphasizes the need for the state to take action against corruption and seize 'benami' properties gained through illegal means. The court has given the government three months to decide on the representation.
