Mathura prepares for Idgah survey, with renewed calls for ‘sadbhavana’

IndiaTimes Friday, 22 December 2023
Mathura, known for its ethos of 'sadbhavana', is witnessing a temple-mosque row similar to Ayodhya. Litigations and a court order allowing survey of the Shahi Idgah Mosque have raised concerns among Muslim families in Mathura. However, locals emphasize the importance of peace and coexistence. The Janmabhoomi complex and Shahi Idgah are heavily fortified with security measures, including surveillance cameras. Despite the political nature of the issue, residents want the courts to decide and express support for a grand Krishna temple. The court has set a deadline of January 11, 2024 to finalize the modalities of the exercise.
