Ex-IRS officer gets 7years in jail for corruption

Former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer R Sekar, who held the post of protector of emigrants (PoE), has been found guilty of corruption and accepting bribes from recruitment agents. He was sentenced to seven years in prison. Anwar Hussain, Sekar's aide and a recruiting agent, was also sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment. Sekar was charged with accepting bribes to clear emigration certificates between 2007 and 2009. The court found that Sekar had handed over ₹13 lakh for arranging an engineering admission for his son.
