Defying death, TN woman delivers amid flood, goes hungry for 3 days

Ramya, a pregnant mute and partially deaf woman, was carried through floodwaters in Tuticorin by her uncle to a struggling PHC for delivery. Despite the difficult conditions, she gave birth to a healthy boy. However, she and her child went without food or water for over three days. The PHC staff, facing power outages and rising water levels, managed to perform the delivery. The ordeal was only relieved when a nearby shopkeeper provided some assistance with biscuits and protein powder.
