As Mumbai teen gets a stent, doctors point to trend of premature heart attacks

Indian teenagers are experiencing heart attacks at a younger age due to lifestyle factors such as junk food consumption. Research shows that Indians tend to have heart attacks earlier than Caucasians. However, recent data indicates that the age of onset of heart disease is decreasing. The Covid virus is believed to be a contributing factor, as it increases the risk of blood clots. Stress and poor sleep further exacerbate the risk. Not all young patients require stents; clot-busters may be sufficient for treatment.
