BEST nabs record 945 commuters in a day for ticketless travel

The BEST conducted a major checking operation for ticketless travellers and caught a record 945 passengers in a single day, resulting in fines of Rs 58457. To continue these efforts, the BEST has appointed a special squad of inspectors who will be deployed at prominent bus stops and busy routes. Most of the passengers caught were those traveling in AC buses, whose fare is an affordable Rs 6 for a 5 km journey. During the previous checking operation, the BEST apprehended 853 commuters and recovered fines of around Rs 50,000 from them.
