Lieutenant governor VK Saxena has recommended a CBI investigation into the free lab tests prescribed at state-run mohalla clinics after an impact-assessment study found "massive irregularities". Doctors were found marking attendance fraudulently through pre-recorded videos, raising suspicion of "fake" records of patients. The report reveals records of patients with wrong or non-existent mobile numbers, suggesting free laboratory tests were recommended to ghost patients. The scam may involve hundreds of crores of rupees and points to financial impropriety and malpractices in outsourcing diagnostic services to private players.
