IndiaTimes Thursday, 11 January 2024
Indradhanu, the LGBTQI+ support group at IIT-Delhi, is set to host the second edition of its pride fest, Vibhinn, on January 13-14. Themed ‘Information and Injustice,’ the event will include a town hall meeting featuring LGBTQI+ leaders who have overcome social challenges for political victories. Notable speakers include Shabnam Mausi, the only transgender person elected to a legislative assembly as an independent candidate, and other figures like Bobi Kinnar and Disha Pinki Shaikh. The fest aims to promote diversity through critical discussions and insights into the LGBTQI+ experience, with events including an All India Queer Collective Conference, a workshop on Queer Activism and the Right to Information Act, and a queer talent show. The festivities will culminate in a pride march, emphasizing acceptance, visibility, and solidarity within the LGBTQI+ community and aligning with the institute's founding vision and values.
