AMU minority status: Nothing fundamentally inconsistent with minority institution being INI, says SC

The Supreme Court, while hearing arguments on the minority status of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), stated that there is nothing fundamentally inconsistent with a minority institution being an institution of national importance. The Centre has argued that AMU, regardless of whether it was established and administered by a minority, is an institution of national character.
