Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma vows to resign if anyone not in NRC gets citizenship under CAA 2019. NRC, unique to Assam, was published in 2019 with a cutoff date of 1971 as per Assam Accord. CAA allows Hindus and other minorities from Bangladesh before 2014 to seek Indian citizenship.
