Shimla facing water shortage, tourist influx adds to troubles
Monday, 17 June 2024 Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, faces a severe water crisis this summer due to heat waves and limited rainfall, affecting the daily water supply to residents and tourists. The city, receiving only 30 MLD out of the required 43 MLD, struggles to meet the increasing water demands exacerbated by the influx of tourists.
Civilians defence drills were carried out in several cities across India as tensions remain high with Pakistan. Sirens were sounded and blackouts observed in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Chandigarh, Shimla and others in a bid to prepare civilians for any possible threats in case a war breaks-out between India and Pakistan.

A series of four earthquakes struck India, Myanmar, and Tajikistan within just one hour on Sunday morning, alarming millions across central and South Asia.
