Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections: 4 months to ‘Engineer’ a new election script

Abdul Rashid Sheikh, or Engineer Rashid, defeated prominent candidates Omar Abdullah and Sajad Lone in the Baramulla constituency while jailed. However, his party struggled in J&K's first assembly elections as a Union territory, with only one win out of 34 contests. Rashid blamed Omar and Sajad's collusion for his party's poor performance.
