Security forces gun down 3 Maoists in Sukma forests
Thursday, 9 January 2025 A fierce encounter takes place between security forces and Maoists in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. The operation involves the District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force and CoBRA. Deputy CM Vijay Sharma confirms three Maoists killed, making it nine neutralised this year. The encounter follows an IED blast that killed eight jawans in Bijapur.
Chhattisgarh Naxal Encounter: In a major anti-Naxal operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division neutralized 22 Maoists in two separate encounters. The first gunfight took place in the dense forests along the Bijapur-Dantewada border, where 18 Maoists were killed. Another encounter in Kanker district led to the elimination of four more insurgents. A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured in the operation. Weapons and explosives were recovered from the sites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the success, reaffirming the government's commitment to a ‘Naxal-Mukt Bharat’ (Naxal-free India).
