Bus fire in Vrindavan claims life of Maha Kumbh pilgrim
Tuesday, 14 January 2025 An elderly passenger lost his life when a private bus carrying 50 pilgrims from Telangana to Prayagraj caught fire at a tourist center in Vrindavan. The blaze, speculated to be caused by a lit beedi, engulfed the bus before emergency services arrived.
Acharya Dhirendra Shastri arrived amid chaotic scenes caused by a scuffle at the VIP entry gate, leading to many attendees being denied access and empty seats at the event. Despite the disruption, Shastri addressed the audience and announced a major padyatra (foot march) from Delhi to Vrindavan in November, calling it a spiritual campaign for a ‘Hindu Rashtra’. He also committed to launching a similar padyatra across Bihar after the upcoming state elections. The event saw participation from several saints and senior political leaders.
