Researchers from the Zoological Survey of India have identified 23 species of blood-sucking flies in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with 13 reported for the first time in India. Five species can transmit Blue Tongue Disease, posing a threat to livestock. Regular surveillance and control measures are emphasized to mitigate risks, especially given the region's significance as a tourist destination.
