Drowning Prevention Awareness Campaign: A Mission to Save Lives Across India| Oneindia

The Drowning Prevention Awareness campaign, launched on World Drowning Prevention Day (25 July), is a heartfelt initiative by the Hemant Bala Advaitha (HBA) Foundation. Sparked by the tragic loss of 18-year-old music prodigy Advaitha Verma—who drowned in Pawna Lake in India's Pune, in June 2024—his parents Sudesh Verma and Renu Kaul Verma turned their grief into purpose. This Drowning Prevention Awareness campaign aims to educate, inform and prevent such avoidable tragedies nationwide. Backed by the WHO and inspired by the UN resolution of 2021, the Drowning Prevention Awareness movement highlights the urgent need for safety, education and community action. Oneindia's Pankaj Mishra brings this report.
