4-month-old abandoned by birth & adoptive moms never tested HIV+: Mumbai doctors

A four-month-old baby, initially thought to be HIV positive and abandoned by her adoptive mother, tested negative for HIV but positive for syphilis. The biological mother gave her up due to financial difficulties and an alcoholic husband, while the adoptive mother abandoned her upon learning about the STI. Police are investigating the illegal adoption process.
