Now, add spouse’s name to passport sans marriage certificate

IndiaTimes Thursday, 10 April 2025
The MEA now allows adding a spouse’s name to passports without a marriage certificate, using a Joint Photo Declaration (Annexure J) instead. Signed by both partners, it affirms their marital status with supporting IDs. Officials say the move eases the process, especially in states where marriages aren't commonly registered. Divorce or death certificates are still needed for name deletion.
