In a first, India to conduct experiments aboard ISS to study sustainability of life in space
Thursday, 15 May 2025 India is poised to conduct its first biological experiment on the International Space Station (ISS), focusing on the sustainability of human life in space. Spearheaded by Isro and the Department of Biotechnology, the Axiom-4 mission will include astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla. The experiments will analyze algal species' growth and cyanobacteria's response to microgravity, potentially identifying suitable species for space environments.

SpaceX launches 50th Dragon spacecraft to ISS on resupply mission for NASA
Sunday's launch was the 50th time a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft has visited the International Space Station; the first time was in May 2012 for a resupply demonstration.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that Moscow continues scientific cooperation with Western experts despite heavy sanctions and political isolation. Speaking in Sarov, Russia’s nuclear hub, Putin insisted that science, like art and sports, cannot be destroyed by politics. He revealed that joint projects persist in nuclear, space, and medical research, even with some NATO states, while new ventures in nuclear medicine are emerging. According to Putin, Russia lost Finland as a partner but continues work with France, Germany, and Hungary through Rosatom. He stressed that Russia still supplies nuclear fuel and services to “unfriendly” countries, hinting that departing partners may eventually return. Putin also warned the West that restricting academic and scientific ties will inflict long-term damage. Despite sanctions, Russia and the U.S. recently extended collaboration on the International Space Station and discussed future lunar and deep-space missions.
