Thursday, 15 May 2025 () A 24-year-old Sudanese student was fatally stabbed, and another was injured in Phagwara, Punjab, during an early morning attack. The victims, along with female companions, were on their way to morning prayers when a group of students and ex-students from Lovely Professional University (LPU) accosted them, leading to a violent confrontation in which knives were used.
BSF Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw has returned to India after spending 21 days in Pakistan's custody. Shaw was handed over at the Joint Check Post in Attari, Amritsar, just days after India’s successful Operation Sindoor Heat and mounting diplomatic pressure on Islamabad. Shaw had accidentally crossed the international border on April 23 while on duty guarding farmers in Punjab, armed and in uniform.
