Man who lost leg in bus accident near Pune awarded Rs 1 crore
Sunday, 18 May 2025 Abhijit Pujare, a Nalasopara resident, received compensation of approximately Rupees one crore. He lost his leg when his bus crashed near Pune in 2021. The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal ordered the compensation. RN Cabs Pvt Ltd and United India Insurance Co Ltd will jointly pay the amount. The accident occurred due to the bus driver's rash driving.
The Drowning Prevention Awareness campaign, launched on World Drowning Prevention Day (25 July), is a heartfelt initiative by the Hemant Bala Advaitha (HBA) Foundation. Sparked by the tragic loss of 18-year-old music prodigy Advaitha Verma—who drowned in Pawna Lake in India's Pune, in June 2024—his parents Sudesh Verma and Renu Kaul Verma turned their grief into purpose. This Drowning Prevention Awareness campaign aims to educate, inform and prevent such avoidable tragedies nationwide. Backed by the WHO and inspired by the UN resolution of 2021, the Drowning Prevention Awareness movement highlights the urgent need for safety, education and community action.
