Kiru hydropower corruption case: CBI files chargesheet against former J&K governor Satya Pal Malik
Thursday, 22 May 2025 () The CBI has filed a chargesheet against former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik and five others in the Kiru hydropower corruption case. This follows a 2022 request from the J&K government for a CBI inquiry into irregularities in awarding civil contracts worth ₹2,200 crore for the Kiru Hydro Electric Power Project.
During a joint briefing, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri delivered a brutal shutdown to Pakistan's Army's DG ISPR after Pakistan showcased videos of Indian leaders Rahul Gandhi and Satyapal Malik criticizing the Indian government. Misri’s response, stating that "criticism is a sign of a functioning democracy, not a weakness," is going viral online, with Indians praising his diplomatic finesse. The exchange highlighted Pakistan’s lack of democratic freedoms on the global stage and served as a powerful counter to Pakistan’s information warfare tactics.
