Pune rape case: 'Delivery agent' who assaulted techie in flat arrested after 2 days; police investigating past connection with victim
Friday, 4 July 2025 Pune police detained a man accused of raping a 22-year-old IT professional in Kondhwa. The suspect posed as a courier executive. He allegedly raped her after gaining entry to her flat. He also clicked a selfie with her unconscious. The man threatened to release her photos if she reported the crime. Police are investigating the case and reviewing CCTV footage.

The Drowning Prevention Awareness campaign, launched on World Drowning Prevention Day (25 July), is a heartfelt initiative by the Hemant Bala Advaitha (HBA) Foundation. Sparked by the tragic loss of 18-year-old music prodigy Advaitha Verma—who drowned in Pawna Lake in India's Pune, in June 2024—his parents Sudesh Verma and Renu Kaul Verma turned their grief into purpose. This Drowning Prevention Awareness campaign aims to educate, inform and prevent such avoidable tragedies nationwide. Backed by the WHO and inspired by the UN resolution of 2021, the Drowning Prevention Awareness movement highlights the urgent need for safety, education and community action.
