President Donald Trump has nominated State Department spokesperson and longtime Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce as the next U.S. deputy representative to the United Nations. Bruce, a fierce defender of Trump’s “America First” policies, has served as State Department spokesperson since his inauguration in January. Known for defending the administration’s tough stances on immigration, Russia’s war in Ukraine, and Israel’s Gaza offensive, Bruce is expected to bring combative rhetoric to the UN stage.
Her appointment will require Senate confirmation, where Republicans hold a majority. Trump praised her “fantastic job” at State, while Bruce called the role an honor and vowed to continue advancing U.S. priorities abroad. She will serve under Mike Waltz, Trump’s pick for UN envoy, whose confirmation is pending. The move signals Trump’s push for loyalist voices in high-profile diplomatic posts at a time of intense geopolitical tensions.

During the live coverage of the historic Trump–Putin meeting in Alaska, a heated debate broke out between Burzine Waghmar SOAS, University of London, and journalist Nagen Singh of OneIndia News. Waghmar argued that Russia’s economy is overheated and claimed Putin cannot sustain the Ukraine war beyond a year. He also questioned India’s obsession with Moscow and the romanticization of Indo-Russian ties. Countering him, Singh accused the West of hypocrisy and blamed the UK and U.S. for India’s deep-rooted closeness with Russia.
