WPI inflation jumps to 7-mh high of 2.6% In Dec

Official data released on Tuesday showed inflation, as measured by the wholesale price index (WPI), rose an annual 2.6% in December from 0.6% in previous month but lower than 3.5% rate in the corresponding month of 2018. Food inflation soared by 13.2%, driven by a 456% rise in prices of onions. Vegetable prices shot up by an annual 70% during the month, while potato prices rose 45%.
