Putin to skip BRICS summit in South Africa under arrest threat

President Vladimir Putin of Russia will not attend next month's Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) summit in South Africa due to an International Criminal Court arrest warrant. Pretoria, which holds the current chair of the BRICS group, came under considerable pressure to deny Putin an invitation, but offered to send its foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, instead.
