DeSantis' redistricting map in Florida is unconstitutional and must be redrawn, judge says

IndiaTimes Saturday, 2 September 2023
A judge in Florida has ruled that a redistricting plan pushed by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis violates the state constitution and diminishes the ability of black voters to choose their representative. The plan has been sent back to the Florida Legislature with instructions to draw a new one that complies with the constitution. This decision is in line with recent rulings in Southern states that have struck down congressional maps due to concerns about diluting black voting power. The case is likely to be appealed to the Florida Supreme Court.
