Israel PM announces wartime 'emergency govt' with opposition leader after Hamas attack

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 11 October 2023
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formed an "emergency government" with opposition leader Benny Gantz following a surprise attack by Hamas. The "war-management" Cabinet will focus solely on the conflict with Hamas, with no new legislation or decisions unrelated to the war. The death toll has risen to over 900 in Israel, while Gaza officials have reported around 800 deaths. The situation in Gaza is worsening, as the power plant has run out of fuel and hospitals are struggling to treat the injured. The war is expected to escalate further.
