Several dead and injured in Israel strike at Gaza church: Hamas
Friday, 20 October 2023 Several displaced people sheltering at a church compound in Gaza were killed and injured after an Israeli strike. Witnesses said the strike appeared to have been aimed at a target close to the church where many Gaza residents had taken refuge. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said its fighter jets had hit a command and control centre involved in launching rockets. The Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem condemned the strike as a war crime. Both sides in the conflict have traded blame for the death toll, which is contested.
