Former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif moves to restore appeals against convictions

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who recently returned to Pakistan after four years in self-imposed exile, has signed applications to restore pending appeals against his convictions in corruption cases. The applications will be filed in the Islamabad High Court and are expected to be heard on October 24. Sharif's legal team will also seek protective bail, and he is scheduled to appear before an accountability court on the same day. Sharif was convicted in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases but was declared a proclaimed offender in the Toshakhana vehicle case.
