Lebanese boats warned off fishing areas amid border clashes

IndiaTimes Sunday, 29 October 2023
Fishermen in the Lebanese city of Tyre are facing the consequences of the ongoing war in the Middle East. Due to the clashes between Israel, Hezbollah, and Hamas, it is too dangerous for them to sail into nearby fishing grounds. This has severely affected their industry, with fish being scarce even before the war. The fishermen are only venturing a few miles from Tyre, as explosions from the fighting can be heard. The fishing industry in Tyre employs 2,000 people and brings in $377 million a year, supporting over 4,000 families.
