High alert issued in Quetta hospitals after doctor dies of Congo virus in Pakistan's Balochistan province
Sunday, 5 November 2023 A young doctor has died from the Congo virus in Quetta, Pakistan, prompting a high alert in medical centres. The virus has already claimed 17 lives in the Balochistan province this year. It has been confirmed that 16 healthcare professionals, including doctors, have been infected with the virus. Three doctors at the Civil Hospital in Quetta were initially found to be infected, with a further 13 confirmed cases. The infected doctors have been transported to hospitals in Karachi for treatment.
