German chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed shame and outrage at the recent surge of antisemitic incidents in Germany, as the country marked the 85th anniversary of the Nazis' "Kristallnacht" pogrom. Scholz stated that such anti-Jewish hatred would not be tolerated in Berlin and emphasized the importance of teaching about Germany's historic responsibility to fight anti-Jewish hate. He also highlighted the need to reject those who deny the place of Muslim citizens in German society.
