Israeli settler attacks have surged in the occupied West Bank since the conflict in Gaza began, according to the United Nations. Settlers have killed nine Palestinians, destroyed over 3,000 olive trees, and forced over 900 people to abandon their homes. The Israeli army has only made one arrest related to settler violence, and rights groups argue that settlers enjoy a sense of impunity due to their close relationship with the Israeli government.
