Pope meets relatives of Hamas hostages, Palestinian prisoners

Pope Francis met with Israeli relatives of hostages held in Gaza and Palestinian prisoners in Israel, offering prayers for peace and acknowledging the suffering on both sides. The meetings were described as "exclusively humanitarian in nature" by the Vatican. The relatives expressed hope that the Pope's influence could help bring about the release of the hostages and access for the Red Cross. Israel and Hamas announced a deal allowing for the release of hostages and a four-day truce in Gaza.
