Gunshots fired in Guinea-Bissau capital after soldiers free opposition minister

Gunfire broke out near Guinea-Bissau's presidential palace after soldiers freed finance minister Suleimane Seidi, who was detained for suspected misuse of public funds. The shooting started after heavily armed soldiers stormed a police station to free Seidi, who allegedly disbursed six million CFA francs from public coffers without permission. The whereabouts of Seidi are currently unknown. These developments follow a spate of coups in the region.
