Myanmar pro-democracy fighters battle to take state capital

Myanmar pro-democracy fighters from the People's Defence Force (PDF) are determined to capture Loikaw, the state capital of Kayah state, from the junta. They are battling against the military's offensive known as Operation 1027, along with allied ethnic minority groups such as the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force. The military is relying on airstrikes and artillery strikes to support its troops. The UN has evacuated most of its staff from Loikaw due to the ongoing aerial bombardment and fighting.
