Henry Kissinger's unwavering support for brutal regimes still haunts Latin America

IndiaTimes Sunday, 3 December 2023
Henry Kissinger, the former US secretary of state, died at age 100. In South America, many countries still harbor deep distrust towards the US due to human rights abuses committed in the name of anti-communism. Kissinger played a key role in undermining the socialist government of Salvador Allende in Chile and supporting the military dictatorship of Gen Pinochet. He was aware of the human rights violations committed by Pinochet's regime. His actions have left a lasting impact on Latin America.
