California law banning guns in public takes effect today

IndiaTimes Monday, 1 January 2024
A California law banning firearms in public places will take effect on New Year's Day, despite a court challenge. The law was blocked by a US district judge who argued it violated the Second Amendment. However, a federal appeals court has temporarily allowed the law to go into effect while the legal battle continues. The law, signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, prohibits carrying concealed guns in 26 locations, including public parks, churches, and banks. Newsom plans to appeal the district court's ruling and advocate for stricter gun measures.
