Migrant caravan regroups in Mexico after government promise of papers falls through

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 9 January 2024
A caravan of about 2,000 migrants resumed their journey through southern Mexico after the Mexican government failed to provide promised documents. The original caravan of 6,000 migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, and Central America started walking on Christmas Eve. The government convinced them to give up their march, promising unspecified documents. However, the migrants were given papers that only allowed them to stay in the southern state of Chiapas. They are now continuing their journey, frustrated and eager to reach the U.S. border.
